TOTEMS (2011)

While on set for our upcoming feature documentary LIFE SONGS we were privileged to capture Sergio Guerra and Balam Santos warming up backstage before a performance @ The Arts Court Theater in Downtown Ottawa. The two friends were taking part in Verse Fest, a local poetry festival in its second year; offering local poets a venue to gather and share their craft. Sergio and Balam, already prominent figures in Ottawa’s art’s scene, were gracious enough to let us film their practice before hitting the stage. Interesting to note is the two artists had never arranged this song prior to the camera being in the room. The following video is a raw and spontaneous happening between two artists connecting their passions on the fly.
